New Delhi, June 12
The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested a Dubai resident for allegedly threatening BJP's Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh over the phone. He was arrested upon his arrival at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
The police have identified him as Mohammed Waseem (40) a native Chandrayangutta in Hyderabad.
The police had issued a lookout circular for Waseem. Upon his return from Dubai, immigration officials at Hyderabad airport detained him and handed him over to the Cybercrime Police.
As per the case details, in October 2023, Singh registered a complaint with the cybercrime police, stating he was receiving life-threatening calls. The police tracked the phone numbers associated with these threats and identified Waseem as the caller.
Earlier in February, Raja Singh targeted All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi and the police over in connection with Telangana sheep distribution scam.
Syed Mohidoddin and Syed Ikramuddin Ahmed, two accused in the case had reportedly fled from the country before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered its case. It is alleged that both of them have escaped to other countries and are threatening witnesses from abroad, police added.
