Indian Police Foundation is doing a survey on SMART police

New Delhi, July 2
The Indian Police Foundation (IPF) is carrying out a survey on police stations and agencies on the SMART police.
Following the SMART policing vision was announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India at the Conference of DGPs held at Guwahati, in the year 2014. He had called for systemic changes to transform the Indian Police to be: Strict and Sensitive, Modern and Mobile, Alert and Accountable, Reliable and Responsive, Techno-savvy and Trained (SMART).
The IPF stated that the idea is to see how far have police forces progressed in achieving this vision in the six years since the announcement of the SMART policing goal? Do the public perceive the impact of any transformation in line with the ideals outlined in SMART policing ?
According to the IPF, the survey is being done to understand the existing strengths and weaknesses in policing, based on the ground level appreciation of citizens’ trust and satisfaction, and to identify the areas of concern on which the police need to focus.
It is also to identify the best performing Police Stations, Districts and States in India that deserve recognition and encouragement and ranking of states as well as districts and police Stations in each State, based on citizens’ ratings.
The identity and privacy of citizens who participate in the survey will be fully protected. The data will not be shared or used for any other purposes. At the same time, it will be ensured that a person who logs in through an email address can submit only one response.
The survey will be available in 12 Indian languages. The links for the English and Hindi versions are given below:
