IT engineer beheads and kills wife in Matheran, woman's unclothed body found in the bathroom

New Delhi, December 15

An IT engineer from Mumbai allegedly beheaded his wife and mercilessly killed her at Matheran hill station. The woman’s headless naked body was found in the bathroom while her head was missing.

The accused has been identified as Ram Pal, a resident of Panvel, who killed his wife Poonam at a lodge as he was suspicious of her character. While Ram Pal is an IT engineer, Poonam worked as a nurse.

The incident came to the fore when the woman’s beheaded and unclothed body was found in a pool of blood in the bathroom of the lodge.

The police when rushed to the spot found that Poonam had checked into the lodge with a man who was missing. According to the police, there was no identification of the couple. The names given by the couple to the lodge were fake and the lodge too did not take any identification documents from them.

The police scanned through the CCTV cameras and tracked the couple’s entry in the lodge. The police found Poonam’s wallet which contained a medical bill of a store in Goregaon of Mumbai.

The police dug deeper and found the prescription belonged to the store near her parents’ residence in Mumbai after which she was identified. The police identified the accused with the help of the CCTV footage and traced him near Panvel.

According to the police, the couple got married in May. The accused had been suspicious of her ‘character’ and wanted to avenge her. The police added that the accused had pre planned her murder and hence took her out on a vacation at Matheran.

The police are yet to find the head of the body. The police further stated that the way he murdered the victim showed that he wanted to take a revenge and mercilessly chopped off her head before dumping her body in the pool.

The accused is now being interrogated thoroughly in the police custody. The police have registered a case of murder.
