The police said an inspector received a voice message recently wherein miscreants threatened to blow up Anitha’s car. The voice message was traced to one Arjun Rathod lodged in Mysuru Central Prisons.

There was a protest by inmates in Kalaburagi Central Prisons over disallowing the entry of tobacco items like cigarettes and beedis inside the prison.

It has also come to the fore that an inmate identified as Zameer alias Bacchan was transferred to another prison after he had allegedly planned to attack Anitha.

11 people have been booked under Sections 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy), 132 (crime of assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant while they are performing their duties), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), 189 (2) (unlawful assembly), 189 (3) (unlawful assembly despite commanded in the manner prescribed by law to disperse) and 190 (unlawful assembly responsible for any crime committed by a member of that group) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Anitha was deputed to the post after photographs and videos of inmates in Kalaburagi Central Prisons getting special treatment went viral on social media.

Anitha has alleged that an organised syndicate comprising government officials, inmates, and their associates were unhappy with her as she cracked down on the entry of prohibited items inside jails after taking charge on October 14. She also lodged nine FIRs after some inmates tried to smuggle banned items inside the prisons.
