New Delhi, August 31

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is looking into a 40-minute delay in notifying local police after the body of a trainee doctor was discovered.

A picture of the crime scene had gone viral on social media, which showed many people present inside the seminar hall.

According to the Kolkata Police’s timeline, the body was found at 9.30 am. The Tala Police Station was first informed about the death at 10.10 am, after an alleged delay of 40 minutes.

It has come to the fore that the local police arrived at the crime scene an hour after the body was found and secured the area then. This resulted in a one-hour delay between the discovery of the body and the securing of the crime scene.

The CBI is also reviewing the call detail records (CDR) of Principal Sandip Ghosh to determine if he intervened in the case. The officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station was also questioned to understand the sequence of events and the police response.

However, Kolkata Police denied CBI's claims that the crime scene was altered
