This attack comes days after two policemen were killed after terrorists opened fire at a police team in Kashmir's Bandipora district.

Two policemen were critically injured and were shifted to a hospital where the doctors declared them dead on arrival. The incident took place in Bandipora's Gulshan Chowk on December 10.

It is to be noted that this is the second major terrorist attack in the valley after the recent spate of targeted attacks on migrant workers and members of the minority communities in Kashmir.

The J&K police has carried out high profile terrorist operations in the last two months nailing down the terror leaders who were on the target lists.

At least 19 police personnel have been killed in militant attacks this year.
