NEET aspirant dies by suicide in Jaipur over less marks in entrance test

New Delhi, July 29

An 18-year-old NEET aspirant died by suicide in Jaipur over depressed over getting low marks in the entrance exam. 

The student, Yati Agarwal, lived with her parents in Vidyadhar Nagar in Jaipur and was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Incidentally, a day before committing suicide she had celebrated her birthday on July 25 evening, but attempted suicide next moring. 

Agarwal had attempted the NEET this year, but she couldn't qualify. She had joined a coaching centre to prepare for the exam next year.

The police stated that the girl was spotted by her neighbours, who alerted the police. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead.

A suicide note was found in Agarwal's notebook, where she had apologised to her parents for not living up to their expectations and for taking the extreme step. She was depressed after not getting good marks in the medical entrance exam, police added. 

The body was handed over to the family after postmortem and further investigation is on.
