NIA chargesheets two accused in the case of bomb explosion at Nimtita railway station of West Bengal

The NIA filed chargesheet against two accused in the case of bomb explosion at Nimtita railway station of Murshidabad in West Bengal.
The accused who were arrested in the case were identified as Sahidul Islam from Murshidabad, West Bengal and Abu Samad alos from Murshidabad, West Bengal who have been chargesheeted under sections120B, 201, 326, 307 of IPC, 16, 18 of UA(P) Act & 3, 4 of Explosive Substance Act in connection with NIA case.
The case relates to an IED blast in February this year at Nimtita Railway Station, Murshidabad, West Bengal resulting in serious injuries to 22 persons including Jakir Hossain, the then Minister of Labour, Govt. of West Bengal.
The IED was triggered when Jakir Hossain along with 70 supporters of TMC, was entering the platform No. 2/3 at Nimtita railway station, Murshidabad for boarding DN 03142 TeestaTorsa Express for onward journey to Kolkata.
The case was first registered at Azimganj GRPS, Murshidabad. The NIA had re-registered this case in March and took up the further investigation.
The NIAinvestigation has revealed that the chargesheeted accused persons Sahidul Islam and Abu Samad had hatched a criminal conspiracy to kill Jakir Hossain, the then Minister of Labour, Govt. of West Bengal and his supporters in order to strike terror in the minds of the people and to derail the impending Assembly Election (March-April, 2021).
Sahidul Islam had procured materials for making IED from the local shops and had held various meetings with Abu Samad for final selection of site for executing the conspiracy. Both the accused persons had also unsuccessfully tried to destroy the phones used by them for misleading the investigation agency, officials added.
The NIA is further investigating the case.
