NIA takes over case of seizure of 2900 kgs of narcotics at Gujarat's Mundra Port

New Delhi, October 8
Following an order from the MHA, the NIA has taken up the investigation of heroin seizure of over 2900 kilograms seized at Mundra Port of Gujarat.

The DRI had seized the narcotic drugs on September 13. The NIA has identified three persons-Machavaram Sudhakaran, Durga PV Govindaraju, Rajkumar P among others who have been booked under section 120 B IPC, section 8 (C), 23 of NDPS Act and section 17, 18 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The case relates to seizure of 2988.21 Kgs of Narcotics substance (Heroin) seized at Mundra Port, Gujarat disguised as consignment of ‘Semi-processed Talc stones’ originating from Afghanistan which had arrived from Bandar Abbas Port in Iran.

The NIA stated that requisite actions as per law for expeditious investigation of case have been initiated.
