Security forces kill one militant in Kashmir's Kulgam

New Delhi, July 26

The security forces in Kashmir gunned down an unidentified militant was killed on  in an encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. 

The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Munand village of Yaripora in south Kashmir. The police and para military forces had received inputs about his presence in the area which led to the launch of the operation. 

The J&K police stated that when the police tried to search the area,  the militants fired upon forces and security forces retaliated to the firing. 

The police added that the identity of the apprehended militant is yet to be ascertained.

Three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered by security forces in Kupwara district, officials said. 

The IEDs were recovered during a cordon and search operation in the north Kashmir district, they said. The operation was conducted at Nadarnag Avoora in the district’s Trehgam area. A Bomb Disposal Squad was dispatched to the spot for disposal of the explosive devices.

All the three belonged to a fresh group of militants which infiltrated from Gurez valley, a police added further.
