Son of dpty leader of Shiv Sena Palghar kills a woman in a hit and run accident in Mumbai

New Delhi, July 8

In an incident of hit and run, a young man who was in an inbreited state hit a couple on road killing the woman with his speeding BMW car. 

The accused identified as Mihir Shah (24) who was out with his friends for a party Tapas in Juhu where he claimed he didn't have alcohol. Shah left for his home in wee hours and allegedly rammed his BMW into a scooter, killing Kaveri, 45, and injuring her husband Pradip Nakhwa, 50, a fisherman.

Mihir Shah is the son of Rajesh Shah, the deputy leader of Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Palghar. Shah is on the run after he last visited his girlfriend's house. 

The BMW was later found abandoned in Kala Nagar in the Bandra East area. A forensic team arrived at the spot later and inspected the BMW.

Shah fled in an auto-rickshaw after dumping his car. His friend, Rajrishi Bidawat also took an auto-rickshaw and came to Borivali after the accident.

The police arrested Rajesh Shah and BMW's driver Rajrishi Bidawat, who was present with Mihir in the car, after questioning them. The luxury car was registered in Rajesh Shah's name. 

During the investigation where the police believe Shah was drunk, the pub owner claimed the group were not drunk and that Mihir Shah's bill was Rs 18,730, which was paid by his friend. Shah reportedly got entry to the pub after checking his identity card. They left in the Mercedes car after paying the bill at 1:40 am.

The police found a CCTV footage of Mihir Shah absconding after leaving his car and also while leaving a pub with four of his friends in a Mercedes car. 

The police have booked Mihir Shah under various sections of the new criminal code, Bharatiya Nyaya Sahita, including 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 281 (rash and negligent driving endangering human life), 125-B (endangering life and personal safety), 238, 324(4) (committing mischief amounting to cause loss and damage).
