Temple idols desecrated in Moradabad of UP, police press in action

The incident took place at Akhileshwar Mahadev Temple in Moradabad

New Delhi, November 22

Right-wing activists and residents staged a demonstration in Moradabad of UP after statues at a temple in the city were found desecrated.

The priest of the Akhileshwar Mahadev Temple, lodged complaint with police stating that he had locked the main door of the temple late and when it was re-opened the next morning, all statues were found desecrated by unidentified persons.

As news about the damaged statues spread, activists of the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) led by its convenor Abhinav Bhatnagar stormed the place along with locals and staged a demonstration.

The police rushed large forces to the temple to ensure law and order was in place.  The police are examining the CCTV footage to identify and nab the accused. 

The police have lodged an FIR against unknown persons.
