Tripura police arrest four with 30 lgs of cannabis from a railway station

The accused were trying to smuggle the consignment outside the state via the Rani Kamlapati Express

New Delhi, May 14

The Tripura Police arrested four people trying to smuggle 30 kg of cannabis outside the state near Trishabari railway station in Teliamura under the Khowai district.

The four accused have been identified as Rahul Das, Bhupesh Debnath, Shanti Das, and Raju Das. 

The accused arrived in an auto rickshaw with bags like other passengers however police suspected them. Upon checking the bags, the police found huge quantities of cannabis. The market value of the seized cannabis is estimated to be Rs 4.50 lakhs. 

The police added that the accused were trying to smuggle the consignment outside the state via the Rani Kamlapati Express that connects Agartala to Habibganj in Madhya Pradesh.
