Twitter account of Delhi Police constable & creator of Jeevandayini blood donation forum hacked

New Delhi, July 4

The Delhi Police constable Ravindra Dhariwal who initiated Jeevandayini forum for blood and plasma donation across Delhi NCR has recently found his Twitter account hacked.

Ct Ravindra Dhariwal posted in the sixth battalion of Delhi Armed Police filed a complaint with cyber cell fo North West district on June 28.

In his complaint, Dhariwal wrote that his official Twitter handle @DelhicopRavinder has been hacked and he is unable to login into his account. The account was renamed by the hacker as Geofrrey Blotter. He urged the cyber crime cell to help him reciver his account.

Ct Dhariwal said, "I have written to Twitter myself and tried to recover it but there was no progress. I had to file a complaint on June 28 with the cyber cell but there is no progress in the case either. The account was created after Jeevandayini started receiving more and more requests for blood donations and medical aide. My friends and I had been regularly updating the followers on our blood donation initiatives through the same handle".

Incidentally, the hacking of his account occured within days of Delhi Police officially adopting 'Jeevandayini' as a welfare initiative of Delhi Police.

In grand programme organised on June 14 Ct Ravindra Dhariwal was felicitated alongwith the other constables who have been aiding him in this noble cause.
The programme was organised by Delhi Police alongwith The Blood Donors' Association, AIIMS and the Indian Red Cross Society who have joined Delhi Police in this noble initiative.

A dedicated mobile number '6828400400' was also announced as a Blood Donation Helpline and beneficiaries and volunteers can connect to this helpline through WhatsApp and Telegram.

The other policemen who aide Ravinder in his initiative are Amit Phogat, head constable Shankarlal Rar and Vikas Dalal.

In addition to the felicitation, the Delhi Police had put up posters across the National capital on bus stands and public places to promote 'Jeevandayini'.

The four constables as a team have been aiding hundreds of needy patients since 2016 when they initiated Jeevandayini. They have been regularly encouraging their fellow colleagues to donate blood and so far over 1300 police personnel donated blood through Jeevandayini.

From what started as a small What's App group to aide blood donation became a successful campaign and forum.

These policemen have donated blood and plasma to hospital like AIIMS,Safdarjung, Max Shalimar, ApolloJasola, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer hospital, Ambedkar hospital, Venkateshwar Hospital Dwarka, GTB hospital, RML, Fortis and Medanta Gurugram.

The contribution of this policemen is not only beyond the call of duty but also a continuous effort to help patients at the ground level.

Ct Ravinder said, “We did not even think about going to media and talking about it. We created our social media also to spread information and give a platform to the doctors and hospital to contact us. Initially I gave out my number to hospital to contact and now this number has become a kind of a helpline where we get 200 to 300 calls every day seeking help”.

He added, "The hacking of the account is a deterrent to our work as that gave official information to citizens about our everyday activities. We do have mobile numbers, What's App groups and now offical Delhi Police helpline but hacking of my account is demotivating and also the hurdles in investigation have been adding to the woes".

The cyber crime cell (NW) SHO Vijendra confirmed that Dhariwal handed over a complaint for investigation.

SHO (Cybercell, NW) Vijendra said, "We have received the complaint and in the process of investigation. We have also written to Twitter to help us recover his account".

Ct Dhariwal and his team has been a messiah for many patients who were in dire need of blood and plasma. While the Twitter account of Dhariwal still remains hacked, he has been attending the calls of callers for blood donation while performing his regular duty with Delhi Police.
