New Delhi, May 26
The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) probe on the arrested spy Mohammad Haroon found him to be working for ISI agents operating in India.
The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested two individuals — Mohammad Haroon from Delhi and Tufail from Varanasi—for spying for Pakistan.
The probe showed that Haroon acted as an agent for expelled Pakistan High Commission official Mohammad Muzammil Hussain, routing money through fake bank accounts to fund ISI operatives within the country. These funds were transferred via Haroon to unknown recipients believed to be ISI agents.
Muzammil Hussain has been declared persona non grata by the Indian government and ordered to leave the country.
The ATS is currently examining Haroon’s mobile phone and financial records from the past three years to trace the flow of money and identify other involved parties.
Another accused, Tufail, who was arrested in Varanasi on charges of spying for Pakistan allegedly maintained contact with over 600 Pakistani nationals and shared sensitive images and videos of strategic Indian locations such as Rajghat, Namo Ghat, Gyanvapi, the Varanasi railway station, and Delhi’s Red Fort.
Tufail also circulated WhatsApp group links that connected people in India directly to Pakistani contacts. One of his key contacts, Nafisa, is married to a Pakistani Army personnel, the ATS probe shows.
The officials added that his phone showed that he has shared videos of Maulana Shad Rizvi, leader of the banned extremist group ‘Tehreek-e-Labbaik’, and forwarding messages promoting revenge for the Babri Masjid demolition and advocating the implementation of Sharia law
