UP STF and Jharkhand police neutralize Mukhtar Ansari gang members and wanted gangster Anuj Kanojia

New Delhi, March 31
The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Jharkhand Police neutralized a wanted gangster Anuj Kanaujia in an exchange of fire during a joint operation.
The police said that Anuj Kanaujia, 42, who was from UP’s Mau district, had 24 criminal cases against him. He worked as a contract killer for different groups.
The STF told media that Kanaujia, a key sharpshooter of the Mukhtar Ansari gang, was neutralised after exchange of heavy gunfire between the police and the gangster. The police recovered two pistols—one 9mm and one .32 bore — from him.
The officials added that they tracked down Kanaujia and his associates at a house in Jamshedpur, he refused to surrender and opened fire and hurled bombs at their team. The police fired back, injuring him, The doctors were called who declared him dead.
During the encounter, DSP D K Shahi sustained injuries, police added.
