Nearly 20 people have died in the past two months due to waterlogging in Delhi including six children.
As many as 11 people died due to drowning in waterlogged regions, while seven were electrocuted, data showed.
The latest incident happened on August 10 when a 7-year-old boy drowned in a waterlogged park in Delhi's Rohini. He had gone there to play with his friends after the national capital witnessed incessant rainfall leading to severe waterlogging across the city and its adjoining areas.
In two cases, the citizens lost their lives after coming into contact with live wire following collection of rainwater outside their house or in their premises.
In another incident on August 10, a 13-year-old boy died after he was electrocuted at a cricket ground in outer Delhi's Ranhola area. The boy came into contact with an iron pole carrying an electric wire. The incident occurred at the cricket ground in Kotla Vihar Phase 2 when the boy went to retrieve a ball.
In yet another case, two teenage boys drowned in stagnant rainwater in a vacant plot in Delhi's Prem Nagar area on the same day. They had gone to have a bath, but their family members said they had gone to play cricket on the plot.
Three weeks ago, a 26-year-old UPSC aspirant was electrocuted to death in Delhi. The aspirant was identified as Nilesh Rai, and the incident occurred near the Patel Nagar metro station.
The drowning incidents include the deaths of three UPSC aspirants - Tania Soni (25), Shreya Yadav (25) and Navin Delvin (28) in the waterlogged basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar that opened a pandora's box on the cases of drowning and electrocution in the national capital.
