A minor school student crushed to death in Chandigarh school after a tree fell

New Delhi, July 12

A 16-year-old girl was crushed to death and several others were injured when a heritage tree fell on the students in Carmel Convent School in Chandigarh. 

The deceased Heerakshi was crushed under the tree inside the school campus. 

The Chandigarh Police recorded the statements of the parents of around 19 students regarding the incident. 

The police also went to record statement of the authorities at Carmel Convent School, who were present in the school at the time of incident. Their statements could not be recorded as the school has been shut. 

Heerakshi's have held the school management responsible for the death of their daughter. 

The Chandigarh Police have registered a case under sections 336 (an act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others), and 304A (death due to negligence) of IPC against unknown persons. 

The police stated that the school authorities will be questioned and further investigation would be carried out.
