Senior IPS officer Pushpendra Kumar gets additional charge as DGP Chandigarh

New Delhi, June 21
The Centre has appointed senior IPS officer Pushpendra Kumar as the new Director General of Police in Chandigarh.
An IPS officer of the 2006 batch, Singh has been given additional charge of the DG.
The post of DG Chandigarh is vacant since the transfer of IPS officer Raj Kumar Singh to Delhi in April 2025. Singh, who was also the Inspector General (IG) of Chandigarh, had been serving as the acting DGP following the transfer of Surendra Yadav. Yadav was moved to Border Security Force in April.
Kumar who assumed the role of Chandigarh’s IG in June 2025 after being transferred from Delhi. He served as the Joint Commissioner of Police, Eastern Range, in Delhi Police. He brings extensive administrative and operational experience, having previously held key positions, including Director in the Union Ministry of Defence in 2021. He is known for his robust administrative skills and operational expertise across diverse law enforcement roles.
Kumar recently supervised "Drug Free India" Walkathon on June 12, 2025, to raise awareness about drug addiction. He will now oversee both the IG and DGP roles.
