AAP leader Swati Maliwal alleges assault at CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence

Maliwal has not filed an official complaint yet

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal has alleged assault at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Civil Lines. Maliwal called the Delhi Police Control Room alleging that she was thrashed by Kejriwal's PA Vibhav. 

Maliwal has not filed an official complaint yet.

DCP (North) Manoj Meena stated that Swati Maliwal called the PCR at 9.34 am on May 13 stating that she has been attacked at CM’s residence. She came to the Civil Lines Police Station and left without giving a complaint. She said she would file a complaint later.”

Maliwal could not be contacted despite repeated attempts. Maliwal had gone to the CM’s residence around 9 am to meet Kejriwal. She was asked to wait. After some time, an altercation ensued between her and Bibhav and she called the PCR. 

The National Commission for Women, meanwhile, wrote to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora asking for a detailed action taken report in the matter within three days.

“The Commission has taken serious note of the allegations levelled by Ms Swati Maliwal against the PS of Shri Arvind Kejriwal and condemns the reported incident in strongest possible words.Therefore, considering the gravity of the matter you are required to invoke aforesaid provisions of the IPC 1860 in the FIR if the allegations levelled are found to be true,” the letter said, referring to IPC sections related to use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman, using words or gestures to insult the modesty of a woman, and voluntarily causing hurt.

“The accused person must be arrested at the earliest and a detailed action taken report should be communicated to the Commission within three days,” it said.
