AAP MLA Amantullah Khan writes to Delhi CP, allges false accusations on him by police

New Delhi, February 13
AAP MLA-elect Amanatullah Khan has written to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, claiming that a “fake and baseless FIR” has been lodged against him and sought a probe into the matter.
In a four-page letter, which was reportedly sent through email, Khan said he has been booked “without reasonable grounds or allegations”.
Khan is referring to an alleged incident took place on February 10 when a Crime Branch team was in Jamia Nagar to arrest one Shavez Khan in connection with an assault case.
The crime branch filed a complaint that stated when the policemen were questioning Shavez, Amanatullah Khan arrived with 20-25 people and allegedly threatened the crime branch personnel of dire consequences. Amanatullah and his companions pushed and grappled the police and got Shavez released and took him away.
In his letter to CP Sanjay Arora, Amanatullah wrote, “On February 10… I was told that some people dressed in plain clothes, claiming to be police officers, were causing undue harassment and threats to Savez Khan. I was asked to save Shavez, who I was told was a resident of our area.”
Khan said he has no close connection with Shavez. “…I was informed… that Shavez being pressurised… He was granted anticipatory bail by Saket court (in the assault case) on July 30, 2018. In spite of (getting) anticipatory bail, the men in civilian clothes… were threatening him that they will arrest him and it will not be good if anybody interferes.”
“Being a respected member of the Legislative Assembly, it was my duty to ensure that nothing illegal should happen and hence, I sent a message to ensure that any action taken should be as per law. I was told that the people claiming to be police officers refused to identify themselves and threatened to implicate all of us in a false case", his letter further stated as reported by media.
Shavez reportedly released a purported video on his social media account stating that he had “already recorded his statement before the court” and had been granted “bail”.
