ACB books senior IAS officer of Haryana, Vijay Singh Dahiya for corruption

New Delhi, April 24

The Anti Corruption Bureau has booked a senior IAS officer of Haryana, Vijay Singh Dahiya on charges of corruption.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had arrested a woman identified as Poonam Chopra, allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh on April 20.

The ACB has registered an FIR against Vijay Dahiya and Haryana Skill Development Mission’s chief skills officer (CSO) Deepak Sharma. 

A 2001 batch IAS officer, Vijay Dahiya is commissioner of Skill Development & Industrial Training department in Haryana. The accused have been booked under charges of conspiracy, extortion and Section 7 and 7A of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

A man from Fatehbad who runs an educational institute filed a complaint with ACB stating that as a training partner of Haryana Skill Development Mission, he had provided training to poor children for computer, AC technician and beauty parlour. He had to take a payment of nearly Rs 50 lakh from the department and has been requesting the concerned officials for three years.

As per his complaint, CSO Deepak Sharma demanded Rs 5 lakh as bribe to get the payment of my pending bills released. Sharma told him to meet one Poonam Chopra who is known to Vijay Dahiya and she will ensure the payment early. He reportedly met Poonam Chopra in Panchkula and talked to her. The complainant further stated that the accused worked in a nexus and demanded money for getting his bills cleared soon.
