Bhandara MLA allegedly creates ruckus at police station, abuses and threatens police on duty, booked

New Delhi, January 3

The Bhandara Police booked MLA Raju Karemore from Bhandara district for allegedly creating a ruckus, abusing and threatening on-duty policemen including women constables inside a police station. 

The incident took place at Mohadi police station on December 31. The incident was recorded on video, which went viral on social media on January 1.

The police stated that Karemore is abused cops, used sexually explicit language in front of women constables and threatened to harm on-duty cops at Mohadi police station in Bhandara. 

According to the police, Karemore was angry allegedly because his businessman friend Avinash Vasant Patli and his aide were roughed up by policemen during a local election related bandobast. Patli alleged that his SUV was stopped on the night of December 31 by a police team and a police officer assaulted him and someone from the team stole Rs 50 lakh and gold chain from him.

The officials added Patli accompanied by MLA Karemore barged in the Mohadi police station where they began abusing, threatening and shouting at on-duty cops. 

The police have lodged an FIR against the MLA and three to four others seen creating ruckus under IPC sections 353 (obstructing public servant from discharging duty), 354 (molestation), 294(obscene acts), 504(intentional insult), 506(criminal intimidation), 143 and 149 (unlawful assembly), 147(rioting) of the IPC and Section 135 (penalty for contravention of rules) of the Bombay Police Act.

The police said Karemore has a prior criminal record including another case for obstructing public servant from discharging duty.

SP Bhandara Vasant Jadhav stated that police had ordered an inquiry into the incident following which an FIR has been registered against the MLA for obstructing police officials from discharging their duties, unlawful assembly, rioting at the police station among other sections of the IPC.
