Bihar police homeguard killed, 10 injured after police vehicle collides with another in Purnea

New Delhi, February 27

A home guard jawan from Bihar Police was killed and 10 other people were injured after a police vehicle in Purnea collided head-on with another vehicle.

The police vehicle was returning after seeing off a convoy of Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. 

The police identified the deceased as home guard jawan Mohammed Haleem. 

The police states that the accident occurred along the Katihar-Purnea national highway near the Shatdobh village. The police vehicle, a Mahindra Thar and a Honda City car collided with each other.

Six Bihar Special Auxiliary Police (BSAP) jawans and four civilians were injured in the accident and admitted to the Purnea government medical college hospital, officials added.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who has been touring the state as part of his Jan Vishwas Yatra travelled from Supaul to Araria and then to Kishanganj, and proceeded towards Katihar via Purnea. The escort vehicle reportedly saw off Tejashwi at the Purnea-Katihar border as per standard protocol.
