BJP women functionary's husband stabbed in Chennai multiple times

The preliminary probe suggests personal enmity between the gang and the victim

New Delhi, June 17

A BJP women's wing functionary's husband was chased by a gang and stabbed repeatedly on a road in broad daylight of Chennai.

The victim was identified as Srinivasan, the husband of BJP women's wing functionary Nadhiya. 

The police have identified the attackers as Prashant, Prakash, Srinivasan, Saravanan, Rajesh and Ganesan. 

A CCTV captured the incident where he was seen being chased on a road in Anna Nagar by a gang of four men.The footage shows how he was overpowered by the men, who then start to attack him. As he was attacked, a man is seen repeatedly stabbing the victim with a sharp weapon. An auto-rickshaw arrives at the spot and the attackers rush towards it and get inside it before fleeing the scene, leaving him seriously wounded. 

The police informed that the attack took place due to personal enmity over a murder Srinivasan was reportedly involved in several years ago.

The victim was admitted to a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Interestingly, two men from Sowcarpet attempted to surrender before the police and take blame for the incident. However, the police discovered it was an attempt to mislead the investigation.

The accused have been booked for attempt to murder, assault and other charges under the IPC.
