Bihar police arrest two in Bihar National College bombing case that killed one student

The duo claimed that the bombs were hurled after the police picked up two students for an altercation incident reported from college

New Delhi, May 20

The Bihar Police have arrested two persons in connection with bomb hurling incident in Bihar National College that killed one student tragically. 

The accused have been identified as Deepak Kumar and Shubhankar Kumar alias Saurav, were apprehended from their respective hometowns in Gaya and Arwal districts. Second-year History student, Sujeet Kumar Pandey from Rohtas, was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries two days later.

During questioning, both of them admitted their involvement in the incident. They also named others and raids are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects, police told media.

As per the case details, at around 12.45 pm on May 13, police received information about a fight between student groups at BN College. The police had picked up two students from the spot after they arrived. Shortly after, the principal reported a bombing incident in which a second-year History student, Sujeet Kumar Pandey from Rohtas, was critically injured. He was rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries two days later.

The police stated that primarily the accused have confessed to the act and claimed that after the detention by police in the earlier altercation, they believed their associates had been taken away by a rival group, which led them to retaliate by gathering a crowd and throwing two bombs towards the college.
