IRS officer allegedly assaulted by colleague in UP, govt orders inquiry

New Delhi, June 4
The government has initiated an inquiry has been ordered into the alleged assault on an IRS officer by a colleague in at the Income Tax office in Lucknow.
Gaurav Garg, a 2016-batch IRS officer was hit by his colleague in the office. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital, where doctors described his condition as stable. He had injuries on the face and head.
The incident took place on May 28 that the officer bleeding and injured. The colleagues Assistant Commissioner Yogendra Mishra. allegedly attacked Garg during a dispute related to a confidential departmental inquiry. Mishra allegedly assaulted him with a paperweight and injured him with shards of broken glass.
A police team was immediately rushed to the spot.
The incident took place following an argument between Garg and his colleague at the office over some pending inquiry. The situation escalated and Garg was allegedly attacked and injured. The matter was eventually brought under control with the intervention of others present at the office.
Garg is husband of 2014-batch IPS Raveena Tyagi, who is serving in Lucknow as deputy commissioner of police.
