Bollywood actor Saif Ali khan stabbed, burgler attacks actor resisting robbery attempt at home

New Delhi, January 16

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at least six times by an unidentified attacker, who entered his Mumbai home in a burglary attempt. 

After the attack, Saif was admitted to Lilavati Hospital where he is undergoing surgery and was reportedly out of danger. Saif had two deep cuts, with one close to the actor's spinal cord, police informed. 

Saif's wife Kareena Kapoor and sons Taimur and Jeh were present in the house at the time of the incident.

The primary probe suggests that the suspect entered Saif Ali Khan's Bandra home at around 2.30 am and both of them had a fight during which the actor was stabbed. 

Addressing the media, DCP Dixit Gedam said that commotion broke out inside the actor's residence at around 3 pm. "We are trying to catch the accused. One female staff member was also attacked. She is okay and is currently undergoing treatment. We have launched an investigation into the incident and will catch the accused soon," Gedam further said.

"An unidentified person intruded into the residence of actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor and the intruder fought. The actor was injured and is being treated," Gedam added.

Mumbai Police suspected the attack to be an insider job as they spotted no one entering the actor's residence after scanning the CCTV footage. 

The police have formed eight teams to arrest the accused and to probe the incident from all angles.

The attack on Saif Ali Khan came months after two men on a motorbike, allegedly belonging to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang opened fire at actor Salman Khan's Bandra residence and threatened him lter with dire consequences. 

Senior Mumbai Police officers including Daya Nayak rushed to Lilavati hospital to meet Saif Ali Khan. The police have detained five suspects so far who are being grilled.
