BSF celebrates National Sports Day at South Bengal Frontier

National Sports Day is an important festival that is celebrated in various countries around the world.
The National Sports Day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of famous hockey player Major Dhyanchand at Border HQrs Baisanbanagar, 115 Battalion, Outposts Kaijuri, Ghojadanga , 153 Battalion, Sahebkhali, Pargumati, Gumti, 118 Battalion and DMC, 35 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier.
During this, the jawans organized games like volleyball, football, yoga and walkathon in which players from nearby villages participated.
DIG A K Arya, South Bengal Frontier informed that National Sports Day recognizes the role of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship. Organizing sports helps in discovering new talents. He explained that sports play an important role in commemorating the achievements of athletes and encouraging participation in physical activities.
In India, National Sports Day is dedicated to the great hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, who brought great pride to the country with his extraordinary skills and achievements.
