New Delhi, January 16
The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled smuggling and infiltration attempts in Tripura.
The personnel from border outposts fired six rounds of non-lethal ammunition at smugglers attempting to cross the Indo-Bangladesh border and seized a large consignment of sugar, narcotics and other contraband, BSF informed.
The second incident was a joint operation of the Tripura State Rifles, local police and the BSF at Jumia Colony under the Bogabil border outpost area in Khowai district, in which security personnel rescued six cattle that were loaded onto a vehicle, to be smuggled into Bangladesh.
Earlier, on January 12, a significant smuggling attempt across the international border was thwarted in Sepahijala, thanks to the vigilance of BSF mahila praharis who intercepted a large group of people armed with sharp weapons trying to sneak in.
