Bus carrying pilgrims attack by terrorits in J&K, NIA to probe the case

The terrorists heavily fired at the the bus was returning from Shiv Khori shrine en route to Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine

New Delhi, June 10

The National Investigation Team (NIA) will probe the the attack of terrorist on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir, 10 people were killed and 33 others were injured following the attack in Reasi district 

The police informed that the incident happened when the bus was returning from Shiv Khori shrine en route to Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The terrorists, hiding in the nearby forest, ambushed the vehicle and opened fire. The driver of the bus was hit by a bullet and lost balance, causing the vehicle to roll down the gorge.

The J&K police alongwith Indian Army and CRPF are carrying out a search operation. The foces have roped in the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to join the operation. Drones have been deployed to cut through the thick forests and find more evidences in the case. 

The preliminary probe suggest that the terrorists are part of the same group that carried out other attacks in Rajouri and Poonch over the past month. 

The police evacuated the passengers with the help of local villagers. The impact of the firing was such that the assailants continued firing when the bus fell into the gorge; some of them came down in the gorge and continued firing on the pilgrims. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation and directed that all the injured are provided with the best possible medical care. 

The terror attack was condemned by President Draupadi Murmu and all leaders from various quarters.
