CBI arrested senior DM and administrative officer of National Insurance Company for alleged bribery

New Delhi, April 23

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an administrative officer and a senior divisional manager, National  Insurance Company Ltd. of Srinagar in a bribery case of Rs. two lakhs.

The CBI had registered a case against the accused on a complaint alleging therein that a dealing official (later on, identified as administrative officer), National Insurance Company Ltd., Srinagar has demanded a bribe of Rs.4.5 lakh from the complainant to settle personal accidental claim of her father who died in a road accident.  

The officials added that after negotiation, the bribe amount of Rs. two lakhs was demanded, as first instalment to release part claim. The complainant also told CBI that the accused would be sharing the bribe with seniors. 

The CBI laid a trap and caught the administrative officer while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. two lakhs from the complainant. During investigation, role of Senior Divisional Manager (Scale-IV) was also revealed and he too was arrested.

The CBI conducted searches at the premises including residential and official of the accused at Srinagar and Chandigarh. 

The CBI seized cash of Rs. one Lakh(approx), bank deposits of Rs.30 Lakh(approx) and some documents related to bank accounts, shares, property, other movable assets were recovered at the premises of Senior Divisional Manager.
