The MP Police arrested Manoharlal Dhakad, a politician from Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur district who was was grabbed allegedly committing obscene act with a woman on the Delhi-Mumbai highway. He was however granted bail by a court on May 26.
The police had filed an FIR against Dhakad and a co-accused under sections 296 (obscene acts), 285 (danger or obstruction in public ways or lines of navigation) and 3(5) (joint criminal liability) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
The CCTV footage of the highway had captured Dhakad with an unidentified woman. The video had created a stir on social media.
MP BJP stated that Manoharlal Dhakad is a resident of Bani village but is not a primary member of the BJP. His wife holds a panchayat post, but the party has no formal association with him.
Dhakad was removed from his role as National Minister of the Dhakad Mahasabha Youth Union.
