CBI arrests court reader and a Delhi Jal Board official in a bribery case

The accused demanded bribe of Rs 60,000 for settling challan issued by DJB for unauthorized water connection in the property belonging to his friend

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended two accused including a Court Reader of Special Judicial Magistrate, Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Lajpat Nagar-I and Field Assistant DJB while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 68,000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered by CBI on a complaint against then Court Reader, Special Judicial Magistrate, Delhi Jal Board on allegations that accused demanded bribe of Rs 60,000/ for settling challan issued by DJB for unauthorized water connection in the property belonging to his friend. The complainant was authorized by his friend to appear in the court in the matter related to the challan. The accused Court Reader allegedly demanded bribe amount of Rs. 70,000 from the complainant for settling the challan.

The agency then laid a trap and caught both accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 68,000 from the complainant.
