CBI books deputy resident commissioner of Chandigarh, his wife for disproportionate assets case

New Delhi, November 27

The CBI has booked a Deputy Resident Commissioner of Chandigarh and his wife for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets worth Rs 2.21 crore from 2012-19.

The officer, Bhartendu Shandilya is a Delhi Administration Subordinate Services officer on deputation to the Chandigarh administration. It was alleged that he was drawing his salary against the post of assistant secretary of STA in Chandigarh since 2016.

The CBI had registered an FIR based on information from a source, alleged the couple earned Rs 1.63 crore, which is disproportionate by around Rs 87.57 lakh against the income from known sources. 

Last year, the Chandigarh audit department raised an objection while scrutinising documents from the office of State Transport Authority (STA), officials mentioned. It was found he has drawn funds to the tune of Rs 67 lakh for his pay and allowances.
