Sub-Inspector of UP Police dies as roof collapses in ACP office at Ghaziabad

Sub-inspector was identified as Veerendra Mishra (58) from Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah and had joined UP Police as constable

New Delhi, May 26

In a tragic accident, a sub-inspector of the Ghaziabad police died after the roof of the assistant commissioner of police (ACP) office in Ankur Vihar collapsed during severe storms and heavy rainfall on May 25.

Sub-inspector was identified as Veerendra Mishra (58) from  Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah. His family lives in Delhi. He had joined the UP police as a constable.

The Ghaziabad police stated that during the storm and heavy rainfall, the roof of the court office collapsed on him. He was found buried under the debris. He was rushed to the hospital but the doctor declared him dead.

Mishra fell asleep while working late on May 24 night at the office to complete some tasks. Around 2 am on on May 25, the roof collapsed due to the storm, fatally injuring him. 

The building, previously functioning as a police chowki, had recently been used as the ACP office because of space constraints.

The devastated family of Mishra was inconsolable when they were informed about the incident.
