CBI extradits wanted criminal of Punjab from Hong Kong

Ramanjit Singh was wanted by Punjab Police for involvement in a jailbreak incident in Nabha ion November 2016

New Delhi, August 23

The Global Operations Centre of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has coordinated with Punjab Police and INTERPOL NCB- Hong Kong for return of a criminal wanted under Red Notice.

The CBI extradited Ramanjit Singh from Hong Kong to India. He was wanted by Punjab Police for involvement in a jailbreak incident in Nabha ion November 2016 which had resulted in release of terrorists.

The CBI had got issued a Red Notice against subject from INTERPOL General Secretariat in 2017 on the request of Punjab Police.

the Red Notice was circulated to all INTERPOL member countries for location and arrest of accused. The subject was geolocated in Hong Kong in 2018 through INTERPOL and location was informed to Punjab police. 

A provisional arrest request was transmitted through INTERPOL in 2018. An extradition request was forwarded by Punjab Police after which he was returned to India, officials added.
