New Delhi, May 1
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has now taken over the security of the parliament of India that was earlier in hands of Delhi Police. The security breach in the Parliament had to led to formation of a special committee headed by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) DG Anish Dayal Singh.
After conducting a detailed survey, a preliminary probe by a committee headed by CRPF Director General Anish Dayal Singh found security lapses during frisking of visitors at the entry point. Eight security personnel of the Delhi Police were suspended for the breach.
150 personnel of the Delhi Police, including 54 women personnel were deployed for the security of Parliament complex after the breach. The Delhi Police has been asked to remove it's personnel from the security set up.
In an official communication from the Centre, the Delhi Police was informed that CISF will take over as well as man the security points of Parliament from 8am from April 29 as per existing SOPs/security norms.
The move comes months after the Centre asked the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to carry out a survey on a comprehensive pattern in the wake of a security breach by a few people, who entered Parliament Hall and threw smoke canisters on December 13 last year.
The CISF then sent a contingent of 140 CISF personnel, headed by an Assistant Commandant-rank officer, for training on Parliament premises before Budget Session who had started frisking visitors and their baggage.
