CRPF, DRG neutralize 16 Maoists in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi, March 29

Sixteen Maoists were killed and two jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Chhattisgarh Police, were injured in an encounter with security forces on the border between Sukma and Dantewada districts in south Chhattisgarh

The police informed that the encounter began at 8 am and was part of an anti-Maoist operation. While the security forces are still continuing with the operation, 16 Maoists’ bodies have been found so far, officials added. 

Automatic weapons, like AK 47, Self Loading Rifle (SLR), INSAS Rifle, a .303 Rifle, a rocket launcher, Barel Grenade Launcher (BGL) and explosives have been recovered. 

The joint operation was undertaken by the DRG and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). 

The security forces have seized automatic weapons, like AK 47, Self Loading Rifle (SLR), INSAS Rifle, a .303 Rifle, a rocket launcher, Barel Grenade Launcher (BGL) and explosives.
