Delhi Crime Branch ANTF arrests three Nepali nationals, seizes 15.670 kg of charas worth Rs 3 crores

The contraband, sourced from Nepal and Himachal Pradesh, was being supplied to Delhi, other parts of the National Capital Region, and Haryana : ANTF

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police recently arrested five members of a drug syndicate, including three Nepal nationals, and seized 15.670 kg of charas worth approximately Rs 3 crores. 

DCP (ANTF) Bhisham Singh stated that the contraband, sourced from Nepal and Himachal Pradesh, was being supplied to Delhi, other parts of the National Capital Region, and Haryana.

The police seized 1.192 kg of charas, classified as a commercial quantity under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The crime branch working on an intel conducted a raid in the Majnu Ka Tila area, and arrested Prem Thapa, 32, a Nepal national, and Mohammed Jameel, 35, a local trafficker from Nihal Vihar, while dealing charas in a hotel.

Ganga Gurung Thapa, another Nepal national, was arrested in Wazirabad with 712 gm of charas. 

The police said she was involved in supplying the contraband in the Sangam Vihar area, and at her instance, 13.766 kg of charas was seized from her bedroom.

The police arrested another Kasol (Himachal Pradesh)-based Nepal national, Ankit Budha, identified as the key supplier of Prem Thapa. Later, Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Ballabhgarh (Haryana), was found to be distributing the charas in Faridabad and Ballabhgarh, and accordingly got arrested.

DCP Bhisham Singh stated that Prem Thapa was identified as the linchpin, sourcing charas from both Nepal and Himachal Pradesh. Ganga Gurung facilitated smuggling from Nepal, while Ankit Budha supplied the contraband from Kasol. Pradeep Kumar and Jameel were further procuring the drug from Prem and acted as local distributors.
