Delhi Crime Branch arrested two gangsters after a brief encounter

New Delhi, March 25

The Delhi Crime Branch arrested two wanted gangsters after a brief exchange of fire in wee hours of Thursday. The accused fired at the police leaving bullets hitting the bulletproof versa of two crime branch officials.

The accused identified as Rohit Chaudhary and Praveen alia Titu were wanted under the MCOCA Act for various organized crimes, murder, attempt to murder, robberies. 

AdCP Crime Branch, Shibesh Singh said, "The crime branch officials had been ton the watch to arrest Chaudhary since long and after receiving a specific input on their arrival, a team started tracking them. The operation went on for a few hours and when the accused reached Bhairon Marg, the team apprehened them after a brief encounter". 

The crime branch stated that Rohit Chaudhary is the kingpin of the gang and is one of the top ten wanted criminals of Delhi.

The team crime branch team led by DCP Bhisham Singh carried out the operation. When the police team was waiting near Bhairon Marg in a trap laid for the accused, at about 04:50 AM, one blue coloured Glanza car was spotted coming towards the barricading. On seeing the road blocked by the police, car crashed into the barricades and stopped. As the police party tried to approach towards the car, occupants of the car fired at the police. The bullets hit the bulletproof vests of ACP Pankaj and SI Priyanka however both were saved.  

The crime branch fired at the accused in retaliation in which both accused got hit in their legs and fell down on the ground. They were rushed to the hospital through the PCR..

The crime branch has booked the accused under Section 186, 353, 307 of the Indian Penal Code and 25/27 of the Arms Act was registered in this regard. 

The officials seized two automatic pistols along with eight live cartridges were recovered from their possession. Total six rounds were fired during the exchange of fire in which four rounds were fired by police while two rounds were fired by the accused. 

The officials added that during the search of their car, several fake identities and mobile phones and dongles were recovered. The accused were using fake identities to stay in different hotels at different locations and mobile phones and dongles were used for communicating with other gang members through internet calling applications.

The accused were carrying a reward on their names of Rs. 3.50 lakhs and two lakhs  respectively while UP Police had declared a reward of Rs.50,000/- and Rs.25,000/- on the arrest of these persons respectively.

The crime branch had earlier arrested two of their associates Prabhat of Dhaulpur Rajasthan and Manish of Ayanagar in Delhi. 

Chaudhary had formed an organized crime syndicate and he along with the members of the crime syndicate are involved in the commission of a series of heinous crimes continuously with the objective of gaining pecuniary benefits or gaining undue economic or other advantages for them or other persons. 

In one of the complaints against Chaudhary in May 2019, complainant Nikhil had reported that he along with his friend Prince came to court and at about 3pm, he along with his friend Prince were waiting for auto near gate no. 3, of Saket Court, 2 boys came on motorcycle and pillion rider fired upon Prince. In which Prince jumped into the drain but boy who was carrying the pistol, also jumped into the drain and fired on him and fled away from the spot. He was murdered at the behest of Rohit Choudhary. Rohit Chaudhary is wanted in this case and Delhi Police has declared a reward of Rs. 1,00,000/- on his arrest.

In November 2019, Rohit Chaudhay murdered one Sudhir of Faridabad, when he was attending a marriage function in the area of PS Dhaulana, Hapur (UP). Rohit Chaudhary killed him over some dispute over a land and enmity with his friend Lakhan. A reward of Rs. 50,000/- has been declared on his arrest by UP Police. 

During investigation of these cases it is revealed that the accused Rohit Choudhary formed an organized crime syndicate along with his gang members. Rohit Choudhary is master mind in each of the cases against him. He has done all the illegal activities with the object of gaining pecuniary benefit. Presently there are nine cases registered/investigated against accused Rohit Choudhary. Chaudhary had committed nine other similar cases after which MCOCA Act was invoked against him.
