Delhi Crime Branch arrests two of the four shooters in Gokulpuri petrol pump shootout

Four shooters had fired at a petrol pump in Gokulpuri injuring an employee

New Delhi, November 19

The Delhi Crime Branch arrested two of the four shooters, who allegedly fired 16 shots at a petrol pump in the Gokulpuri area on November 15 injuring an employee.

The motorcycle used in the shooting was tracked back to a man named Lalit from Loni, who revealed that he lent his ride to his friend Rukmesh, who is from Meerut. Rukmesh took the bike at 7 pm and returned it at 11 pm with broken number plate. He was accompanied by his brother-in-law, Vinod Kasana from Noida. 

The police raided Kasana’s residence in Noida’s Sector 49 and interrogated the family members about the whereabouts of Rukmesh that helped them arrest Rukmesh from Meerut. 

According to the crime branch, in the intervening night of November 17 and 18, the police received information that one of the accused Ankit was in Ganga Nagar, Meerut. Ankit was arrested from Meerut and on his instance Rukmesh was also nabbed from Meerut area. Ankit is a close associate of gangster Rahul Baba and was directed by him to carry out the shooting. Rukmesh was hired by Baba’s close aide Deepak Furtila to provide the bike.

As per the case details, four men on two motorcycles opened fire at a petrol pump in the Gokulpuri area at around 10.30 pm. The petrol pump supervisor sustained injuries caused by broken glass pieces after the accused fired 16 rounds of bullets at his cabin.
