Delhi Crime Branch busts drug syndicate, seizes heroin worth over Rs. 50 lakhs

New Delhi, April 25
The Delhi Crime Branch has busted a drug syndicate operating in the capital, and seized heroin worth over Rs 50 lakh in the illegal market.
The police said that the Anti-Narcotics Task Force team, in a special operation, nabbed the accused, Suraj, on April 21 from near the Shastri Park flyover on Pusta Road, based on the inputs from another peddler who was arrested earlier. At the time of his arrest, Suraj was in possession of 97 grams of heroin.
The officials said that the investigation began with the arrest of drug peddler Imran on April 4 in Kabir Nagar, while he was attempting to deliver 315 grams of heroin. The police had launched an investigation based on a case registered under Sections 21 and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During interrogation, Imran allegedly disclosed that the heroin had been supplied by Suraj. The Delhi Police said Suraj has a criminal background with five previous cases, including charges of robbery and snatching. He is believed to be a key figure in the drug distribution network.
