New Delhi, April 25
The Drugs Controller Office of Delhi has written to Delhi Police Commissioner asking for police protection at sites where Remdesivir injections are distributed.
Udit Prakash Rai, Special Secretary (H&FW), Drugs Controller wrote Delhi CP SN Shrivastava.
The letter stated, " Due to sharp increas ein Covid 19 cases, the demand of the Remdesivir formulation has increased exponentially. The officials of Drugs Control Department, Govt of Delhi, in association with various CFAs/stockists/distributors of various companies involved in distribution are closely monitoring the availability and distributions of the said formulations to make them available to various hospitals, nursing homes and admitted patients".
He further wrote, "However, steep increase in demand of the said formulation has resulted into long queues of attendents of patients, which are now becoming unamangeable and resulting in law and order problem because of this panic situation at these sites".
"In view of above, you are requested to provide adequate security arrangements and police staff at these sites as per list attached so that law and order situation at these sites and security of staff distributing this drug is ensured. Your immediate action in this matter would be highly appreciated".
The list mentions names of 30 companies namely M/s AS Pharma, M/s Lucky Pharma, M/s Model Entreprises, M/s City Drugs, M/s Impex Helathcare, M/s Albino Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, M/s Eish Health Eight, M/s NRI Health Aide, M/s AAR Healthcare, M/s Sunnyco, M/s Medilink, M/s Vishal Associates, M/s South Delhi Pharma, M/s RK Pharma, M/s AARK Pharmaceuticals, M/s Pentachem Healthcare, M/s Sanjeevani Delhi, M/s Novacare Delhi and more.
