New Delhi, August 13
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena conducted a review meeting on the implementation of three new criminal legislations in Delhi.
LG Saxena instructed officials to set specific timelines for ongoing projects related to the new laws.
The meeting also covered the procurement of mobile forensic vans, infrastructure for video conferencing in all 691 courts in Delhi, and the filling of 165 junior scientific assistant vacancies at crime scenes, with a target completion date of September 21.
Besides, recruitment rules for vacant posts in the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Directorate of Prosecutions were discussed, along with plans for a new building for the Directorate.
The three legislations — Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) — which replaced the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act, have been in effect since July 1.
