Delhi Police ACP suspended a day before his retirement

New Delhi, December 29
A day before he was set to retire, Delhi Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sanjay Kumar Drall was suspended for his alleged involvement in a corruption and drugs case.
Drall who was set to retire on December 29, was posted in Northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area.
According to the police, ACP Drall is the prime accused in a case where he allegedly took bribes to facilitate the use of narcotics in an area.
he case was lodged in 2020 on the complaint of another police officer who alleged that Drall was forcing his subordinates to run a drug syndicate and extorting money from them. One of his subordinates also accused him of randomly putting personnel on suspension for no reason.
Drall was booked in 2020 on charges of extortion, causing disappearance of evidence and criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The officials stated that a letter signed by the chief secretary put Drall under suspension with immediate effect. The officer is not allowed to leave Delhi Police headquarters as his duty point.
In addition to that, he would only be allowed a subsistence allowance and would not be able to avail all the benefits post-retirement, officials added.
