Delhi Police arrested a man in Northeast for allegedly raping and killing a minor girl on Eid

The police arrested the accused in an encounter from Welcome area of Northeast Delhi; one constable of Delhi Police was also injured in the firing.

The Delhi Police arrested a man in an exchange of fire who had allegedly raped and killed a minor girl in northeast Delhi three days ago. 

The police arrested a 28-year-old man in an encounter near the Welcome area. Constable, Amit Mann, was injured when the accused attacked him with the blade in a bid to escape. 

The police received a tip-off that the accused was hiding in Jheel Park near the Welcome area. the police teams reached their to arrest him. However, he attempted to attack officers with a blade that he was carrying, and in retaliation the police fired injuring him in his leg. 

As per the case details, a minor girl was reported missing on June 7. Her family was preparing for Eid celebrations and she was asked to get some ice ahead of the feast. The family began searching for her. Her father reached the hour of the accused, who lived in their neighbourhood on the second floor of a building. They broke open the door and found the girl was found stuffed inside a suitcase. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where she died during the treatment. The father alleged that the girl was sexually assaulted. 

The girl’s father told reporters that while he was searching for his daughter, some neighbours said they saw her going to the house of a neighbour. The accused was alone at his house as his wife, along with their child, had gone to her maternal house. He fled from his house after the incident. 

The police ave booked the accused under sections 103 (1) [murder], 66 (punishment for causing death or resulting in a persistent vegetative state of the victim), and 13 (2) [enhanced punishment for repeat offenders], of the BNS, along with Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act.
