New Delhi, December 3

The Delhi Police arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run case involving a woman constable on duty last month.

The accused was identified as Raghav Gupta, a resident of Janakpuri. The police have also seized the vehicle involved in the accident.

The police said the incident occurred on November 18, when Constable Nirma Bai, posted at R K Puram Police Station, was hit by a car while crossing Africa Avenue Road on her way to duty at a women’s protest near the Sarojini Nagar Depot. The constable was injured, and admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre with a broken leg.

The police scanned and analysed CCTV footage from around the crime scene and identified the vehicle.

A notice under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act was issued to the vehicle’s owner, leading to Gupta’s arrest. The seized vehicle is now part of the investigation.
