Delhi Police arrests a woman for arranging fake IDs for Nepali nationals

The woman arranged Indians IDs for the Nepali nationals who wanted to go to Cambodia on Indian docments

New Delhi, November 14

The Delhi Police arrested a woman allegedly involved in arranging fake Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and Indian passports for Nepalese citizens.

The accused has been identified as Tabassum Alvi (28). She received Rs 3 lakh as her share out of the Rs 10 lakh paid by the Nepalese citizens.

The syndicate was busted on the intervening night of March 25 and 26, when two Nepalese nationals, Hastman Seling and Prabin Sawaden were apprehended at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport while trying to leave for Cambodia via Bangkok. The duo were trying to sneak out on fraudulent Indian passports with names- Dinesh Subba and Shyam Subba, 

The police teams tracked down the agents identified as Suban Subba, 29, and Anil Lama, 44 and arrested them from West Bengal and Delhi respectively. 

DCP (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani stated that the accused wanted to go abroad for a better livelihood but were told by their friends that they could not earn good money based on Nepali passports. They came to India in 2023 by crossing the Indian-Nepal border to meet Subba who assured them to send Cambodia by arranging Indian documents along with their journey for Rs 10 lakhs, with the help of his associate Anil Lama.

The duo told police that Tabassum helped facilitate the procurement of Nepalese nationals’ air tickets and visas.
