As per the directions of Election Commission of India, the Outer North District developed intelligence on an interstate liquor mafia operative, Vikas alias Sonu Bihari. The special staff of the police carried out two operations.
DCP (OuterNorth) Nidhin Valsan stated through surveillance and intelligence gathering, the team tracked a white Maruti Eeco (DL-1CX-1418) transporting illicit liquor from Sonipat, Haryana. The vehicle was successfully intercepted near Nala, Sector 25, Rohini, Delhi, in the jurisdiction of PS Shahbad Dairy.
The driver, identified as Vikas alias Sonu Bihari (29) son of Gujari Chaudhary and resident of Sonipat, was found in possession of 100 cartons of illicit country-made liquor, totaling 5,000 quarters (approximately 900 liters).
During sustained interrogation the accused Sonu Bihari revealed that he had supplied illegal liquor to more than seventy five (75) illegal receiver across Delhi. The police seized his Maruti Ecco White colour No. DL-1CX-1418 and 5000 quarters SPICED COUNTRY SPIRITS measuring around 900 Litres in 100 carton boxed.
In the second operation, police received secret information about illegal liquor being transported in the DSIIDC, Bawana area.
As per the Intel, two cars were expected to deliver illegal liquor in the area. The raiding team, along with the informer, reached the designated spot, where they identified a Tata Altroz and a Honda Amaze approaching from Bawana towards the Sec 3-4 red light, DSIIDC.
The vehicles were intercepted, and the drivers, identified as Ravi Kant (35) from Shahbad Dairy, Delhi (driving Honda Amaze No. HR55AA8291) and Piku alias Neeraj (29) from Narela, Delhi (driving Tata Altroz No. HR10AR4874), were apprehended.
Upon inspection, the Honda Amaze contained 30 cartons of 50 quarters each and 10 cartons of 12 bottles each, while the Tata Altroz carried 40 cartons of 50 quarters each, totaling 80 cartons (3,500 quarters and 120 bottles) of illegal liquor.
The police seized 70 cartons containing 50 quarters each of illegal liquor and 10 cartons containing 12 bottles amounting to 3500 quarters and 120 bottles of illegal liquor along with one tata altroz and honda amaze used for transportation of illegal liquor recovered and two accused apprehended/arrested, police further stated.
